Iraq ten years on ...
... and nothing has changed except that the people are now killing each other without the say so of a government official.
All that the non-Muslim powers have achieved in Iraq is anarchy.
The result of this is millions of displaced Iraqis who can never now return home - they have no home.
This is the result of walking into a conflict with no understanding of the cultural issues involved - and this is the lesson we should have learned from Afghanistan and didn't. Without the right cultural references, we cannot fight any war and expect to be the heroes.
Religious conflicts can have the same villains and heroes as WWII where the obvious enemy of humanity was the Nazi party. Islam, even in its most benign state can be compared to the Nazi party of the 1930s - intolerant of ANY difference of opinion.
This is because it is the duty of every Muslim to convert non-believers. This is why a Christian based alliance can never understand and defeat the army of fundamentalism.
And when your country is broken and poor, and its people are crushed underfoot by an uncaring government, fundamentalism is a very attractive prospect to the youth.
Cyprus - the latest ...
So now it's only deposits of more that twenty thousand Euros that will be affected.
Yippee - imagine how you would feel - overnight your savings are depleted by ten percent - the more you have saved, the more you stand to lose - how can that be fair?
And what about the Russians? This is their playground - Putin offered a bail out for the hand over of an as yet unexploited oil field, of which apparently there are many off the coast of Cyprus - so why is the bail out not based on future income from this reserve?
And how and why is is that COUNTRIES can fail economically and yet the BANKS survive?
